Veteran Specific Scholarships
The Austin Excellence Fund for Veterans
The Austin Excellence Fund for Veterans was established by Paul and Linda Austin to enhance educational programs for student veterans at Virginia Tech. Recipients shall be students (graduate or undergraduate) who are veterans with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Recipients shall be chosen on academic merit, and preference will be given to students in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences.
Matt and Kelsey Quillen for Veterans Scholarship
The Matt and Kelsey Quillen for Veterans Scholarship was established by Matt and Kelsey Quillen for student veterans at Virginia Tech who have exhausted their VA education benefits. Recipients shall be students (graduate or undergraduate) who are veterans. Recipients must have exhausted their VA education benefits and show financial need. Multiple awards are available at varying amounts.
Troops to Teachers
The Troops to Teachers program established in 2017 helps current and former members of the Armed Forces transition into second careers as K-12 teachers upon separation from military service. The Virginia Troops to Teachers program is open to students at any Virginia college.

Edith Nourse Rogers STEM Scholarship
The Edith Nourse Rogers Science Technology Engineering Math (STEM) Scholarship allows eligible Veterans using the Post-9/11 GI Bill or dependents using the Fry Scholarship to get added benefits. This scholarship provides up to 9 months (or $30,000) of benefits for training in high-demand fields.
Military Order of the Purple Heart
The Purple Heart Scholarship Program is a competitive scholarship program that awards scholarships to Purple Heart recipients and their spouses, children, and grandchildren each year.
Tillman Scholars
The Pat Tillman Foundation identifies remarkable military service members, veterans and spouses, empowering them with academic scholarships, lifelong leadership development opportunities and a diverse, global community of high-performing mentors and peers. Tillman scholars are making an impact as they lead through action in the fields of healthcare, business, public service, STEM, education and the humanities.
Veterans United Foundation Scholarship
The Veterans United Foundation Scholarship provides support for family members of service members and Veterans. The scholarship program, launched in 2012, is funded by contributions from Veterans United Home Loans and its employees. The Veterans United Foundation Scholarship will be awarding up to 10 one-time scholarships for up to $50,000.

Air Force Aid Society
Since its inception in 1942, the Air Force Aid Society (AFAS) has been committed to helping Air Force members and their families realize their academic goals. The centerpiece of the Society's education initiatives is the General Henry H. Arnold Education Grant Program which provides $2000 grants to sons, daughters, and spouses of Air Force members.
Army Emergency Relief
The Army Emergency Relief offers scholarships to students who are dependents and spouses of Army soldiers and are in pursuit of their first undergraduate degree or technical certification. AER also offers various other financial assistance programs for qualified individuals.
Fisher House Foundation
The Scholarships for Military Children Program was created to recognize military families' contributions to the fighting force's readiness and to celebrate the commissary's role in the military family community.
Joanne Holbrook Patton Military Spouse Scholarship
Since 2004, NMFA has cheered on military spouses by awarding scholarships to help pay for everything from GED’s to PhD’s, professional licenses and certifications, including re-licensure, business and entrepreneurial expenses, supervised clinical hours, continuing education courses, and more.
Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation
The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation provides scholarships for the children of those who have served in the Marine Corps.
Military Officers Association of America
The Military Officers Association of America provides scholarships, grants and interest free loans for applicants under 24 years old with a parent who has served or is on active duty as an officer.
Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society
The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society’s Education Assistance Program offers interest-free loans and grants for undergraduate/post-secondary education at an accredited 2- or 4-year education, technical or vocational institution in the United States. This financial assistance is available for children of active duty, retired or deceased Sailors and Marines; and for spouses of active duty and retired Sailors and Marines.
